Farming in England
England has been continuously farmed for about 4,000 to 6,000 years. Much of the rural landscape as we see it today would have been familiar to our ancestors in Roman times 2,000 years ago.
Cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and crops of wheat, barley and oats are major products. England is also a larger grower of vegetables and fruits such as apples, pears, strawberries and blackberries.
