Kings and Queens

Edward IV

King of England 1461AD-1470AD and 1471AD-1483AD

Edward was King during the Wars of the Roses and was from the House of York. He managed to destroy the competing House of Lancaster in a series of spectacular military victories which left him in a stable position as King of England.

His brother George Clarence is supposed to have excecuted for treason by being drowned in a cask of Malmsey Wine at Windsor Castle in 1478. The size of the cask is remembered as a Butt which equals two hogsheads; or in modern units about 480 litres.
