A fantastic place Stonehenge can be found two miles west of the town of Amesbury in the county of Wiltshire. A popular attraction, this ancient stone construction is one of England's most famous landmarks. Great stone Trillithons and a Circle of Sarsen stones more than 100 feet across have stood for centuries on this northern edge of Salisbury Plain. While only 17 of the 30 original Sarsen stones are now standing, the decayed state of what was surely once a temple of some sort only adds to its intriguing charms. Chris |
