Malmesbury

Malmesbury has a delightful history. Athelstan, the first King of England is said to have been buried here in 939 AD.

More interestingly, a monk called Elmer leaped from a tower here in Malmesbury in around 1000AD in an attempt to become the first man to fly. He survived the drop but broke both his legs.
