Wiltshire

In the south west of England, Wiltshire is flat and agricultural. The major industrial town of Swindon on the M4 motorway in the east of Wiltshire is the only large connurbation. Salisbury is technically a city but it is only haf the size of Swindon.
Avebury is perhaps the greatest treasue in the county. A village inside a ring of standing stones placed there by our neolithic ancestors. 100 times bigger than Stonehenge, Avebury is a must see for anyonewishing to explore the more spiritual side of a vacation in Wiltshire.
Marlborough on the old London to Bath road (A4), was once a roman camp. In 1690 after the third destructive fire of the century thatched roofs were banned in Marlborough and the houses built after that fire survive to this day.
