Bideford

Bideford is the town where visitors to Lundy Isle board the MS Oldenburg. When they return from their visit, Bideford's old Pannier Market is a popular draw for both visitors and locals.

Bideford grew up alongside the River Torridge and was once an important North Devon port. These days many summer visitors decend on Bideford which is only a few miles from the beaches of the Atlantic Coast at Westward Ho! and Northam.

Fans of unusual architecture will love Bideford's Long Bridge with 24 spans over the river Torridge. Each span of the bridge is totally unique and the bridge is well worth investigating.

Pannier market

Climb up to the Pannier market. It is a great old fahioned hall where people sell all sorts of interesting things. We got a couple of lovely local photographs of the Devon coast framed at a bargain price.

Tarka Trail

Cycle from Bideford along the Tarka Trail an old disused railway. It really is a lovely day out.
