Wembley
Wembley is home to the national football stadium of England. The old Stadium stood for 65 years before they pulled it all down, despite it being a listed historic building. The twin towers are gone but the new arch rises magnificently over the town. Head north to Barn Hill for the best views down onto this wold famous bit of England.

Its not just a stadium The towns name comes from Saxon for Wemba's clearing. The stadium does dominate wembley and has done so since 1923 since the first one went up. before that there was a folly called white's tower on the site. Mr White wanted to build a british version of the eiffel tower but ran out of money after about 80 ft. In Wembley town there is now a large asian market which sells a great load of exotic produce. Really cool place to shop for funky vegetables. Avoid the gold shops though. Chris |
