Kent

map of Kent

The garden of England is the old nickname for Kent and is a justly deserved one. Kent is rich farmland and visitors since the time of Julius Caesar have been seduced by the lush greenery of Kent.

Dover, Deal and Leeds castles are all well worth a visit. You can experience what everyday life was like in a Roman British town at the Canterbury Roman Museum.

Kent also has 300 km of coast line for visitors to explore. If you would rather go inland then you will be delighted to discover that the Kent Downs are officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stretching from the White Cliffs of Dover to the edge of London, the downs are gentle rolling hills that have become exemplars of all that is good about the british countryside.

Since kent is known as the garden of England it would be a waste not to visit one of the 180 gardens open to visitors in the county.
